  PROFILE

What do you see when looking at the picture and title above, or my experience below? Do you see an experienced consultant and IT director? Do you see a first-time startup founder? A passionate leadership coach? A loving father? An unapproachable and closed manager? A warm and kind friend? Someone with a trying past? A loving partner? All are true. We all tend to have our first impression ready in the first seconds. How long can you suspend yours?

In working life, my two passions are entrepreneurship and leadership.  After more than 20 years in corporate IT, I recently decided to switch and I am now building my own startup. Although I'm not ready to share everything yet - I can promise it won't be long before I will!

To further follow my passion for leadership, I enjoy consulting to and coaching (future) leaders as well as writing about leadership here at markwormgoor.com. Consulting to and coaching founders of startups and scale-ups bring both worlds together for me, but I also love coaching in the corporate world. Interested in coaching: read more here or please reach out!

Global IT Director Service & Operations – Jacobs Douwe Egberts
August 2014 - September 2020
Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE), the world's largest pure-play coffee and tea company, serves consumers in more than 100 countries through iconic brands including: Jacobs, Tassimo, Moccona, Senseo, L’OR, Douwe Egberts, Super, Kenco, Pilão & Gevalia, with an annual revenue of €6bn. At Jacobs Douwe Egberts as Global IT Director I lead our Service & Operations department, reporting to the CIO.

The JDE IT Service & Operations team supports JDE's applications, datacenters, network and end-user services, utilizing a global service desk in multiple languages, a Service Integration and Management (SIAM) function - and is also in control of the global Cyber security and Compliance of JDE's IT landscape, used across the globe by JDE’s 16,000 associates. The team operationally manages and drives continuous service improvement of all Global IT Services, and monitors and reports on the performance of Global IT Services and Vendors.

In this period, as a team we achieved some significant improvements and cost savings to JDE’s IT environment, such as:

  • a full datacenter consolidation, moving from 5 globally disparate datacenters to a single, outsourced (IaaS) twin datacenter in the Netherlands;
  • moving global application support services from one global supplier to another;
  • transitioning our global WAN network and (W)LAN from a global WAN supplier with many locally managed solutions to a global standard, managed by a second global networking provider:
  • move and improve the service desk and all workplace services;
  • implementing SIAM (Service Integration and Management) processes, utilizing ServiceNow as the underlying toolset;
  • significantly stepping up our cyber security defenses, implementing a SOC, vulnerability management, awareness training, IT Crisis and Continuity Management and many others.

Furthermore, my team and I executed numerous infrastructure integration projects for acquired businesses.

Senior Manager – Accenture Consulting
June 2006 – August 2015
At Accenture, I've worked with our clients in different roles. Over years, I've managed four large, global projects at an oil & gas major: implementation of a hardware and software discovery & inventory tool, a software asset management tool implementation, a stabilization and upgrade of the request management process and portal, and the development and roll-out of an identity management system.

After September 2013, I also lead Accenture’s IT Service Management practice, which advises Accenture’s clients in the Netherlands on Operational IT processes, IT Service Management, Software Asset Management, but also implements supporting tooling.

Consultant – (Logica)CMG
October 2000 – May 2006
At CMG - and later LogicaCMG, I supported a multitude of clients, initially in systems administration of Unix and Linux systems. In the last 2,5 years at (Logica)CMG, I supported a large financial institution first as a technical coordinator - and later as a project manager - in the build and support of their user access management solution.

Consultant – TDF Detachering
July 1996 – September 2000
For TDF, a small IT services company, I initially started working at service desks. Soon after, I became a Windows NT systems administrator and achieved my MCSE Certification (based on NT 4). For a large Dutch bank, I managed systems at different departments and setup the NT domain for their new Amsterdam head office. During my last year at this bank, I maintained several large HP-UX systems with MQ Series and Oracle databases. Here, I guided several projects during their acceptance and implementation phases onto the production environment.
